When I first the first post about the Pythogareans adversion to beans my 
immediate re-action was 'Bean-counters?'

But now, with the testicle thing, I'm thinking how unlike testicles beans 
are.  Maybe Pythagorus was picked on in the boys locker room.  They 
duct-taped him to the shower wall and called him 'little beanie balls'.
