I would head the other way, to connect the rise of the Kundalini serpent up the chakras with the entire pioneer spirit of "Go West, young man", Manifest Destiny and Jack Kerouac, which seems (to me) to be what soul America has.

But everything I know about yoga I learned from reading Hermann Hesse, and it would necessarily put the whole thing out of proportion (placing the heart like a third of the way up seems wrong, sort of).
