I think it was Ken Hite who pointed out to me that, as hetro Christian
white American men, it's drastically unlikely that any social event will
ever happen to us from which we cannot recover.

To throw some fat on the fire... when my wife spent a summer in Sydney, she
came away with the impression that Australian society is far, far more
sexist than American society.
