Yes, your magick has to be your obsession skill. Your magick. And you are
obsessed with doing magick through your school and the laws around which your
magick works; that's why you're cutting yourself up to get charges. It *can*
be what you actually like to do, but needn't be. The obsession here is how
your actions generate magick through paradox. Check out Dirk Allen's
obsession sometime, or Daphnee Lee's. You don't need to care, quite frankly,
about having sex, getting drunk, or slicing up your arms. She doesn't care
about sex, he doesn't care about liquor. They care about the symbolism
behind it. You *need to care* about how those actions create a paradox that
allows magick to function.
Consider: Is the skill Dispomancy the same as the skill Care A Whole Lot
About Getting Drunk? Nope. Some people are addicted to gambling, it rules
their lives. Are they entropomancers? Are all sex-obsessed people
pornomancers?
Thus, your original post:

Is wrong. You're not devoting your life to booze or violence, you're
devoting it to magick. It may be magick through the mystic paradox of booze
or violence, but that's not quite the same. "I really love getting drunk, I
love this brand of Coors, I will get drunk every day until I die....so, when
do I get to levitate stuff?" Uh huh.
