I wouldn't say mainstream "success."  Traci Lords has done a number of
movies, including minor roles in some big-budget ones.  Ginger Lynn has been
in a lot of cheap movies, a couple of bigger ones, and made an appearance on
NYPD blue as well as in a Metallica video (this was not a "porn chic" video,
BTW, it just happened to have a porn star in it).  Trying to think of some
others.  Ashlyn Gere appeared in both the X Files and Space: Above and
Beyond (Chris Carter is reportedly a big porn fan).  Asia Carerra appeared
briefly in The Big Lebowski.  Jenna Jameson is just big.  She's appeared on
a late night talk show, was a regular guest on Howard Stern's radio show,
and become sort of an icon.

I probably sound like I know more about this than I should.
