I just read the novel last week.  Fabulous book; breathtakingly good.

There's plenty of UA-appropriaye ideas in WONDER BOYS.  Read/view it for its
quality, then make notes

I do think there's a bit more to it than that.  He forgot the nihilists, at the
very least.
