Well, there ya go then.  The Masons are using schizophrenia research as a way of finding out what's going down in the OU, after realizing that those dubbed insane are quite possibly onto something.  

Or maybe the opposite, and the Masons are used as a Sleeper front (must get Hush-Hush) and the "cure" for schizophrenia involves mainly brainwashing folks who are too close to the truth and too vocal.  They take in J. Random Adept and convince him that all his magick was hallucinations, as were the clockwork monsters and the woman flying through the air.  Thus, he's not going to tell anyone about that (and even if he does, both will think it's just insanity)

Or maybe some important Mason had a schizophrenic family member, and they're doing it out of charity and goodwill.  Given the right group of players, the insane ideas might surface first, so using the sane ones as the truth would be more amusing.
