Don't forget the hydrobath, either.  That's pretty unpleasant.  (Wait --
probably phased out by 1991.)  

Also, no one gets "sentenced" to 2 years in an institution.  If you get
institutionalized, the sentence is "until we feel we can let you out."
Now, in the Reagan years there was a huge move to kick people out of
institutions, but only their nonpaying customers.  If he got out after
antagonizing the staff, it's because either (1) someone on the outside
hired a lawyer and a shrink to prove him sane or (2) he made SUCH an ass of
himself that they decided to "cure" him just to get rid of him.
