Ooh, nice.
Equally, there's the Alan Moore short story (a 'Future Shock!') that
appeared in the UK comic, 2000AD.
A bunch of interstellar explorers have travelled the cosmos, looking for
aliens, and haven't found a single one. Then, one day, one of them suddenly
realises he's just had an alien idea - the alien is a meme. He communicates
it to the rest of the crew, with, er, hilarious consequences.
And there was a Cthulhu scenario in some old roleplaying mag (The Last
Province?) involving those good old Hounds of Tindalos and fractals.
