I was running a UA/ConX/Delta Green hybrid which centered around Jack
Parsons. Parsons and his buddy L. Ron Hubbard (the guy who did the
Moonchild summoning with him) did manage to summon /something/. The
"Scarlet Woman/" Moonchild was a female demon/Great Old One based liberally
on Lilith, Shub-Niggurath, etc...basically every negative female stereotype
I could come up with, rolled into a fleshy womb cavity beneath the desert.
I didn't get very far into the campaign before some key members of that
group left for college/whatever and we switched to Fading Suns, but the
desert in question was supposed to tie into Manson and "The Family," which
then tied into the Process Church, the Zodiac Killer (original flavor, not
the New York poser), and an occult hit squad not unlike the Fate.
All of the Manson stuff dovetails nicely into an Ellroy-esque "Black
Hollywood" style campaign with Polanski and Tate (under pseudonymity if
you're squeamish) working some black magic with kids along with a coterie of
Hollywood stars and bigwigs (apparently, some say that was Manson's defense
until he started pretending to be a loon...that Polanski had been molesting
kids. Given Manson's background, that might've been a reason to kill the
whole lot of them.)

*Really, LA is a great place to put a UA game, if I wasn't so set on using
Vegas. Maybe I'll use both. IMUAC, Vegas is the reflection of Hollywood
anyway...think about it...Vegas got rid of the glitz and went to family fun
and special effects right around the time Hollywood came out with the big,
special effects blockbusters. When Hollywood was all Westerns and glamour,
Las Vegas played up the Western image...
