I've always thought this was silly, by the way. If a person happens to
perform the role perfectly despite being unaware of it, why in the world
shouldn't they continue to rise in Avatar status?
Of course, being aware of the role and its taboos makes it a lot /easier/
to follow the path. But that's fine, and self-selecting.
