I just read an article in a, uh, magazine (*cough* Maxim *cough*) about a 
kidnapper/rapist/murderer in the southwest. He had a white trailer behind 
his house that he decked out as a full holding cell/S&M torture chamber, 
complete with a gynecologist's chair that could move back and forth on a 
track via remote control, facilitating access to various sets of hanging 
chains and other dangling objects. He even had an audiotape prepared that 
he played for each victim to explain the ground rules, beginning with 
something like, "Thanks to my long years of experience in dealing with 
people like you, here are a few things..." His common-law wife and 
daughter were in on this. I think the greatest horror was that the 
daughter had run to the FBI when she was a teenager to report that her 
dad was doing all these terrible things to women; they investigated 
quietly and discounted her story. Ten years later, he'd made her his 
accomplice. A terrible, sad, and completely fucked-up situation.
