Perhaps it is that Alex Abel was not a part of the world of white 
mega-millionaires and yet has made his way in.  He is an outsider who has 
become a part of the world he was seperate from and in doing so embodies its 
concepts and ideals to a greater degree than those born into the culture.  
He is the Holy Immagrant or Newcomer embodied in literature by the Great 
Gatsby and, more positively, by Superman.  The alliteration in Alex Abel's 
name is a common feature of comic book superheroes such as the Silver 
Surfer, Reed Richards and of course Clark Kent.  It is worth noting that 
villains also share this trait such as Otto Octavia, Doctor Doom and most 
notably Lex Luthor who, like Abel, is unable to be completely self actualize 
because his drive to build a better world is subverted by his greed.
