Actually I didn't mean to imply that Morrison could be an Avatar of the
True King. In this case I was probably reaching more for the archetype
which was mentioned as a vague possibility for Elvis, that of The Self
Destructive Artist, but for some reason I couldn't think of the best way to
put it. Morrison's obsession with seeing himself as a poet, and with in
some ways imitating the lives of former poets such as the french poet
Rimbaud would seem to suggest that he could be at least an Avatar of The
Self Destructive Artist. That is of course if the Self Destructive Artist
could be seen as a valid archetype; which given the place of the Idea in
popular consciousness I would suggest that it could.
However perhaps Morrison wouldn't necessarily be the best candidate for
ascension to this archetype, I simply made the leap from the reference under
Iconmany in Postmodern Magic that "strangely, no-one has yet been able to
channel the Lizard King, Jim Morrison" to the conclusion that this was
probably because he had ascended in some form. By no means the only
possible conclusion.
