[UA] Who is the True King?

I like this idea, but I think that rather then making JFK the current
ascended True King in the Invisible Clergy, I would make him perhaps a
Godwalker who failed to ascend to the Invisible Clergy. When I was looking
through the archives for this list I found a reference to an avatar of the
True King who was from a small town in, I think,
Italy. This Avatar changed the nature of the archetype so that it no longer
necessarily refered to a distant ruling
figure but could refer to more local non national areas as well; as
Statosphere puts it "the King of 7th Street, the King of the Cops, or the
King of the Road." Perhaps as the Godwalker for the True King , JFK
intended to ascend
to the invisible clergy not by putting a new spin upon the avatar; but
rather by giving the avatar an old spin. By
ascending as the ruler of the most powerful country in the world JFK would
have changed the avatar back towards its original meaning; (Although most
likely with certain added elements such as the involvement of the media in
the whole equation; and considering the willingness of the media to cover up
so many of JFK's now notorious sexual exploits perhaps even the compliance
and the obedience of the people to the True King.) The whole Camelot myth
of JFK's presidency could be looked upon as a deliberate attempt by JFK to
associate himself with the ideas and symbology of the old idea of the True
King.
As a Result of this the assassinaton of JFK could be looked upon in one
of two ways:
    1) The Conspiracy. If JFK had been successful in ascending as the True
King in the old fashion of the archetype
this would probably seriously piss of a lot of the current avatars of the
true king who were not recognised leaders of countries but were instead
protectors of much smaller and select realms. In this case it would quite
possibly only take one avatar of the True King who holds a position of power
as a director in one the USA's shadowy military organisations, combined with
the abilities of the existing True King to alter chance, and the whole
assination could be arranged, and JFK's attempts to ascend to the Invisible
Clergy thwarted.
    2) The Lone Gunman. I like this idea better; if only because players
are going to naturally suspect a more complicated conspiracy. In this
version Lee Harvey Oswald acts alone to kill JFK. The only occult influence
is a long series of coincidences within Oswalds own life that lead him to
the Dallas Book Department store in 1963. Oswald finds that his attempts to
get his life on track thwarted by bad luck time and time again, while he
increasingly finds himself by sheer chance sitting in bars, or on buses,
next to loons who tell him what a great idea it would be to assassinate the
president, or flicking channels on his TV to find late night war movies that
involve snipers or sharpshooters. Eventually through anger and bitterness
he gets the idea into his head to assassinate the president. So he fires
from the book department store and through some freak chance (IC influence)
the bullet he fires somehow manages to ricochet around and hit the president
about six times; making sure that he dies.
The final result of this would be the the whole conspiracy theory
angle which would not be the result of a failed attempt at a cover up, but
rather a deliberate attempt to sully the publics confidence in the US
governement, and to undermine the percieved power of the President, by
bringing to the public consciousness the idea that there are shadowy
organisations out there who answer to no one and are not under the
president's authority. The whole purpose of this could be an attempt by
current avatars of the True King and/or the The Clergy True king to
undermine the public confidence in the figure head of the President in order
to prevent another person from ascending as True King via the US presidency.
The downside of this could perhaps be seen in greater public cynicism and
the fact that nobody trusts politicians anymore (although I'm not sure that
is a downside).

Another idea which I probably would not use, but which is amusing,
occured to me while I was writing the above. What if Bill Clinton's
deliberate attempts to imitate Kennedy were an effort to use the still
potent image of Kennedy to reinvoke the idea of the president as True King.
Perhaps he secretly had a hand in the terrible Harrison Ford movie Air Force
One, which was an attempt to restore public confidence in the President.
Once again the sex scandals which culminated in the whole Monica Lewinsky
could be seen as a pre-emptive attempt to undermine Clinton and the
presidency before he ever got anywhere near his goal; (I really can not see
Clinton as having ever anyway got actually near to ascending, but perhaps
after last time the current True King and his avatars weren't taking any
chances.)

Finally about Elvis and JFK. I am quite likely wrong about this but I
was under impression that neither of them could actually be members of the
IC because of their usefullness for Iconomancy. Thinking back now I realise
I made this assumption because of the reference to the failure of any
Iconomancers to channel Jim Morrison. I figured this was probably because
Jim Morrison had not actually died but had ascended into the Invisible
Clergy, possibly as some kind of failed artist/ wasted genius type of
figure. Thinking back now I do remember that the reference for Iconomancy
does state that the Icon that is followed must be dead, and I had thought
that Ascension to the Invisible Clergy did not coun as deadt. I have not
really given this much thought but if anyone disagrees I would like to hear
their opinions.

P.S. I joined this list about two weeks ago, but haven't got around to
posting until now so hello
everyone.
