Frankly, after about 10 pages I stopped and sent it back to the library. That
was enough space for me to know that I wasn't going to enjoy this overwritten,
pretentious, ultimately pointless book.
My life has become much simpler since I started reading for style over content.
I can now decide whether a book is worth my time in just a few minutes. And as
a side-effect, I don't read much fantasy any more.

Incidentally, Greg, have you read any other Pavic's other books, aside from
DICTIONARY OF THE KHAZARS. If so, are they good?
(It was your afterword in the Everway Spherewalker sourcebook that got me to
read the Dictionary, by the way. Thank you. One of the best novels I've ever
read.)

This is the future. This is what we built. This is what we wanted. It must
have been. Because we all had the fucking _choice_, didn't we? It is only our
money that allows commercial culture to flower. If we didn't want to live
like this, we could have changed it any time, by not fucking _paying_ for it.
