Maybe at lower levels you're just acting like "the Bastard," above, and
only at higher levels do you take that and consciously use the channels to
tap into the power of the "Villain." Your a low power Villain because you
try to do good and fail--anybody can do that, even subconsciously. OTOH,
the high power Villain gets that way because he realizes all of the power is
in consciously working counter to somebody, be it a good Avatar (once again
Unbreakable fits here) or an ideal.
It's almost like (God help me) the Grinch: there's a huge difference
between sitting on a hilltop outside of Who-ville messing with the people
unlucky enough to cross your path, it's another thing entirely to tap into
the Avatar consciously and use it to destroy _Christmas._ (If only he'd hit
Godwalker status before he tried it, the Whos would all be celebrating
Who-nnukah or something different.
