I'm writing a scenario and I need a little help.
It's about a child who miraculously recovers from a terrible illness.
The plot requires that the child can't be examined by doctors, so I was
toying with making the parents members of some religious sect with
strong prejudices against modern medicine.
Now, how much sense does this? I know there are sects whose beliefs
forbid certain types of medical intervention, but can somebody provide a
real world example? It would be easier for me if I have a start point.
Thanks in advance.

=====================
Christian Science forbids all medical intervention by doctors. This belief
system forbids the use of any and all medication, doctors visits, and
surgery. Where I grew up, if one of the members of the church fell ill, she
would pay the other members to pray for her rather than go to a doctor.
