Unknown Armies requires a certain mood. Music is definitely an element
that can set that mood. Here is a few CDs I am going to use for my
campaign:
Godsmack -- Godsmack
Voodoo (Track #12) will be a major theme song, seeing as my campaign is
based in New Orleans
Casablanca -- Classic Film Scores for Humphrey Bogart
Ranging from Casablanca to The Treasure of the Sierra Madre, Bogart films
always have great scores
Poe -- Hello
I really like Poe. I can't wait for her next album. I definitely think
Trigger Happy Jack (Track #2) and the title track, Hello (Track #1), as
well as the rest of the album give a great urban horror film. Hell,
Trigger Happy Jack could be a great GMC.
The Best of Beethoven 3 Disc Set
Face it -- Beethoven is cool. His symphonies have been put to amazing
use in films such as Clockwork Orange.
Songs in the Key of X - Music from and Inspired by The X-Files
The X-Files has got the freaky feel that Unknown Armies campaigns aspire
to and this music is so connected to the X-Files, it's bound to help set
the mood.
Rage Against the Machine -- Rage Against the Machine
Rage Against the Machine -- Evil Empire
Rage Against the Machine -- The Battle of Los Angeles
Rage is a great group. Their songs are hard and powerful. They also
portray the hysteria of modern urban life, which is a theme in my Unknown
Armies campaign.
The Crow soundtrack
The Crow: City of Angels soundtrack
The Crow soundtrack is one of my favorite CDs. It fits the movie
perfectly and definitely fits with Unknown Armies. The second movie's
soundtrack isn't as good, but definitely has it's moments.
Bach - The Masterpiece Collection
Bach is great. His works, especially his Toccata & Fugue in D Minor
(Track #1) emobody horror completely. The familiar strains have been used
in countless movies and TV shows to give an overarching feel of horror. I
plan to continue that use of it.
The Trainspotting soundtrack
If the characters in this movie were alcoholics, instead of heroin
addicts, they would be the perfect boozehounds. Maybe heroin addicts do
have their own school, eh? Besides being a very cool movie, Trainspotting
has a great soundtrack with likes of Iggy Pop and Lou Reed.
Jurassic Park soundtrack
Jurassic Park: The Lost World soundtrack
Another theme in my campaign is the concept of the urban jungle where you
must fight to survive. That feeling comes across on these 2 CDs.
I'll send more along as I figure out which other CDs would fit my campaign.
What about all of you? What do you use?
