Sorry, I arrived late to this thread but I have to ask:
- Isn't the Basque claim to independence backed by I autonomous language 
(the only european language not derived from Latin) and by the autonomous 
kingdom of Navarre that was invaded by Ferdinand and Isabelle of Castille?
