Oh, I don't know. Just because we like really cool games
like UA and OtE doesn't mean we don't like a good fantasy
epic here and there. I loathe the 2nd Ed AD&D rules, but I
still play the game at conventions because I know of some
really good players.
I'll say upfront that I am one of the biggest AD&D
naysayers. I considered writing an essay on the top ten
reasons why AD&D sucked. After playing in a 3E D&D demo, I
know that I can trash most of those ten reasons. It'll
still have its problems, but I believe that it now has the
same amount of flaws as most games out there.
So, what is the deal with the d20 system? I heard that
WotC is releasing the "source code" of 3E D&D so that other
games can use the system. I could have sworn I read on
this list that UA is considering releasing a d20 version.
BTW, I played a gnome paladin in the demo. I wanted to
play a half-orc, but the demo didn't have the same
flexibility that the full-fledged game will have. I
enjoyed playing a cocky little pipsqueak who could take
your knees off with a swing of his sword.
