"Mildly" is unfair. It looks a lot like a penis, and we all know it. And
we also know that "those who care" seem to take a lot more umbrage at the
male appendage there than they do at most aspects of female sexuality
(which seem to be fair game as "marketing" now). Putting a dangler in a
picture is asking for someone to reject it; putting breasts with nipples
is not, and neither is a whole lot of objectification of females as
sexual objects.

I think it is a stupid double standard, but when I saw that illustration I
figured that somewhere out there this book was going to be denied a place
on a shelf, without question.

Big companies do, by their large size, invite the store owner to trust
their judgement (as many have obviously done before, so they are probably
OK). Small companies are often seen as pushing the boundries almost
because that is the only way they can get attention. So if you are
inclined to worry, I'd expect you to check everything from the smaller
guys, and trust what you are told by the bigger companies. But I'd have
thought of Atlas as a bigger player, I guess, simply because it has been
around for a while and produces a professional product, not a cheaply
produced photocopied sheaf... But I guess there are degrees of these
things...

Take care,

Liam
