Since being violently headbutted will probably come up in someones game,
I'll share.
I was headbutted when jumped in a nightclub a few years ago. I got hit
right on the eyebrow ridge above my left eye. I dropped like a stone. I may
have lost consciousness VERY briefly. I crawled away from my attacker (who
wasn't interested in continuing it as his friends were pulling him away and
hustling him out of the club before cops came). I then stood up and looked
around. I was dazed. I don't remember feeling any pain. One of the staff
saw me, grabbed me and hustled me to a back room and got some of my friends
(and called an ambulance). I was bleeding profusely. Blood was pouring from
my head. I could smell copper very, very, distinctly. I began to really
realize it was serious when I smelled that. Then my friend's girlfriend
(who was holding gauze to the wound) pulled the gauze away for a moment and
passed out. That's when fear really kicked in. I put my hand to the wound
and pulled it away and my entire palm and fingers were red. I asked my
friend if he could see bone and he said "I think so". The EMTs showed up at
this point. They took me to the ambulance and then the hospital, and asked
me the standard set of questions for possible concussion victim (What's
your name? What day is it? What were you doing? Is there time you cannot
account for (did you black out)?). They ruled I didn't have one and
bandaged my head in transit. Once there, I was given X-rays and CAT scan
(to be sure). I was also given stitches. I got lucky because the
intern/resident on ER duty that night was studying to be a plastic surgeon
so that scar's not so bad.
The next day my eye was swollen shut and the most disgusting shades of
purple and blue and yellow I'd ever seen. And I was in fucking pain. Oh
shit, did it suck. My head hurt.
The next day my eye was still swollen, but I could see. And the pain was a
dull throb. The problem was everything was a lot darker (almost reddish) in
my left eye. Went back to the hospital. My left pupil was a pinhole all the
time it turned out. I got some drops for it and followed up with an
ornothologist. No vision loss, but I had to keep taking these drops to
reduce my pupil back to normal. It made it better over the course of a few
weeks, but I still have a left pupil that is a bit smaller. Barely
noticable if you're not looking for it. But if you are, it looks weird.
