I broke my left arm when my cycle got stuck between two paving stones - it
stopped, I didn't. I landed on the arm, thought "ouch" and got up before the
bike was quite finished falling over. I picked it up, and continued cycling.
About 3 minutes later I noticed that my left wrist was swelling, and that I
couldn't move my fingers. It still didn't hurt. About a minute later I
started puking my guts up. Then it started hurting.
I eventually got home, in agony, and my parents took me to the hospital
where a nice nurse and doctor pulled on my arm till the bones were lined up,
and then plastered it in place.
Apparantly the throwing up was a symptom of some bone marrow getting into my
bloodstream. (Not sure I understand that bit). The actual arm breaking
didn't hurt (which should have been a clue - after all, I had just hit the
ground at a fair rate of knots.)
