The spanish Civil War has been described as "the last romantic war",
and for some people, it was the last attempt to build a society who
truly represent the interests of the common people.

I strongly like this idea.

You may find interesting that a week after Sanjurjo's death, General
Mola, one of the Nationalist ideologues, was killed in an air accident,
too. IIRC, in one of these two accidents, the plane only flew a few
meters before crashing. It's also interesting to know that during his
rule, Franco always feared attempts at his life. He never travelled in
plane if he could avoid it, and he only left his residence when
necessary, and always with a heavy escort.
(As far as real world conspiracy theory goes, Franco would be prime
suspect for Mola and Sanjurjo accidents, rather than republicans. Mola
and Sanjurjo were the senior generals, and Franco only got the command
of Nationalist forces after their deaths)
