Hidey-ho.
Has anyone looked at the comic book MAGE II: The Hero Defined, by Matt
Wagner, and tried to work up UA rules for the Avatars they represent?
You've got the Pendragon, the Olympian, Coyote, the Monkey King, the
Bear Wolf, the Presbyter, the Hornblower, the Dragonslayer, etc...
They are for all purposes, the godwalkers of their Archetype.
Of course, Mage is a bit more cinematic than horrific... but there's
some horror in there. Oh yes... from the Hero Discovered you have the
Umbra Sprite, Recaps, the Grackleflints, the Leahannan Sidhe, and
Cromm Cruich; in the Hero Defined we have the Pale Incanter, the
Sprigginflints, basilisks, trolls, hell hounds, etc.
I've been trying to think what Avatar channels that the Kevin
Matchstick has, as well as the qualities that make him the Pendragon.
Also, to separate out Kevin stuff from Pendragon stuff.
Well, he's very tough, nimble and strong. He has the bat, which he can
control and do various tricks with, which is in many ways an extension
of his power. He tends to take control, is the rallying point, and is
the one who takes responsibility. This all makes him bossy, and a bit
arrogant. He seems to have a preety good inherent grasp of tactics.
Kevin stuff: he's irreverent, good-humored, scared of heights, and
fairly pig-headed when confronted with something he doesn't want to
deal with... (though that could be a weakness-- and a strength-- of
the Pendragon).
I don't know, these are just some ideas. Does anyone else find this
interesting?
