Bibliomancy

Bibliomancy actually started with the Romans, most likely. Noting
that much of information technology (which amounted to libraries in
said age) amounted to binding what was and what wasn't into books and
then storing the books, and thus the information and binding of
reality in one place, and thus libraries, one could seriously bind
existence.
But once again, it is the nature of reality not only to be bound, to
be orderly, but to be released. And so by destroying libraries, one
could release a great deal of stored up energy.
Debate resounds that anyone following said path would in fact be
performing more of a minor cliomancy/entropomancy path, rather than
anything different. However, the path of the bibliomancer is much
more subtle than either of those others. Bibliomancy is not just the
destruction of ordered systems, but the spread of disorder,
disinformation. While it is certain that at least one "major charge"
(colloquial term for major spell energization, see Thompson's "Crafts
and Creations of the Occult Man") was gained from the destruction of
Alexandria, certainly other smaller portions of energization were
created through efforts of disinformation, books and theories which
while sound in appearance, were really Trojan horses of chaos. One
Prime example is the use of Lead in the pipes of the water systems of
Rome. Certainly a continual generation of chaos.
It is supposed that the Bibliomancer is perhaps one of the prime
servants of chaos, by those who see it not only as a mere expression
of the natural world, but as an actual agent which seeks to be served
on a celestial scale.
The modern equivalent of the Bibliomancer is the hacker, although
certainly not all hackers are in fact Bibliomancers. The destruction
of major systems, decodifying of important documents and command
structures, etc. is certainly an expression of this destructive force
at work, and the IT systems network inherent in the "internet" system
certainly presents a prime hunting ground for the Bibliomancer, open
to destructive pursuits, as well as the spread of lies and rumors,
which are spread around the 'net by willing believers faster and
easier than ever before. And often such rumors are of such insidious
closeness to the truth, such slick style, that it would take an expert
to start them...or one well practised in the art of spreading
disinformation.
The question arises of what could a Bibliomancer then gain, in terms
of power, from this destructive discourse? Surely the blessings of
Entropy itself, but what is the blessing of decay worth, in this
mortal life?
The few investigation teams sent out by the New Inquisition have met
mainly with destruction and tragedy, but these few things which have
been learned make it ever more necessary that we discover the truth:

-By destroying the fabric of ordered reality, Bibliomancers gain for
themselves a stabilization of their own physiological structure.
There is evidence that the few bibliomancers in existence are
extremely long lived, one may have even been alive in the days of the
Romans.

-Bibliomancers are, by necessity, mad, but not in a manner which would
in any way be identifiable or treatable by modern medical science.
Rather, they dwell in personal realms of confusion, ordered only unto
themselves, and thus must draw on the destruction they create for the
energy, and certainly knowledge to interact with the modern world in a
meaningful manner. One supsects that they must expend minor energies
constantly when in public in order to conmingle with the modern
society in a manner which would not be seen as extremely anti-societal.

-Through expenditures of larger amounts of energy in information
diffusing manners, the Biliomancer can affect and change portions of
society in chaos-positive manners, affecting fads, trends, etc. in
ways which are negative to the growth of society. It is important to
remember here that while in some way self serving, most Bibliomancers
seem given over utterly to the service of entropy, and so will support
movements and trends in society which, in the long run, are in fact
detrimental to themselves.

It is the finding of this study group that the New Inquisition would
be best served by hunting down this group with all haste and caution,
for the good of society.
