Hey, folks. I made some phone calls today to poll some of our distributors on
how the game is going. It seems in general to be going better than folks had
expected, which at least in part explains some supply interruptions. It
didn't help that one of our Pacific Northwest distributors was sick all last
week, and thus didn't get a chance to send a re-order, though I'm expecting a
fax tonight. Another West Coast distributor ordered another case of books
(since their recent re-order had sold half through in a matter of days, I
guess); and a certain multi-warehouse national distributor reports that two of
their locations are nearly sold out...and this is our week for the monthly
restocking. So the long and the short of it is that reports here and direct
queries to me about problems getting the game (specifically in the Seattle
area) have turned positive results, helping me look into things and help the
process along, to the benefit and profit of everyone. :)
In related yet disappointing news, I was told that the WotC stores do not
intend to carry UA, since they are focusing just on the "top-selling" RPG
lines. This was second-hand, I must warn you, but it fits what people were
reporting on this list from querying store staff. If I get a chance I'll try
to get in touch with some actual managerial types at the store to confirm it,
and see if we can't persuade them to give the game a try. (Perhaps a
sufficient quantity of consumer queries would convince them that the game has
the potential to be popular?)
Thanks to everyone for your help in scouting the shape of sales on the front
lines!
