The next supplement out should be "One Shots," a collection of single
session, unconnected adventures. I don't know when it'll hit the pavement:
Tynes is editing it as we speak.
Regarding the overarching plot concept: most big games have them these
days because they seem to help sales. Some players really like to keep
following an ongoing story: witness the success of L5R. Plus, it's a lot
of fun for the game designer to spin things out over time. It can make the
setting much more dynamic, and it can provide guidelines for big,
world-beater plotlines that some players (those with less time or
experience) need a bit of help with.
That said, I agree that the "official" plotline should in no way interfere
with the utility of a product. What I'd like to see is this: when you buy
a UA supplement, you get a good deal of meat that can be used in any
fashion whatsoever, but also some story continuity - a chance to find out
what happens to Renata and Eugene (once I figure that out myself), or to
follow Cage through a couple days' work. I'd like to bring all these
threads together eventually, and it's certainly POSSIBLE that there will be
big, drastic changes in the setting. But I'd never want to see them become
'necessary.' ("Sorry, it's the apocalypse, all future supplements will be
based on the assumption that you completed the apocalypse series of
adventures.")

better put him in an asylum.
1999 Gene Therapist: Your fetus has the "date rape" gene. Better abort.
