Sean Stewart: resurrection Man and Mocking Bird are beautiful books that
should provide a great deal of inspiration for the game. heck, anything by
this author is worth reading. But start with resurrection Man.

Elizabeth Moon, Waking the Moon, excellent treatment of past magics meeting
the now. 

James Blish's Black Easter is a good treatment of occult elements.

Katherine Neville's The Eight and Magic Circle are a treasure mine of story
possibilities.

My brain should be coming up with more, but its been a long day so far, sot
his will have to do for now.
