As far as Ruby is concerned:

If she was his daughter (and he found out), my Alex Able would get her the
hell away from his affairs.  He'd set her up so that she wouldn't have to
worry about money, get her away from Mona and never see her again (his
business isn't exactly a safe one).  He's not a cold-hearted bastard but I
don't see him playing the father role.  For some reason, Al reminds me of
the mayor character in Buffy the Vampire Slayer...'cept a little less evil.
