Maybe the Compumancy idea would work better as a new archetype (I'm at a 
loss for a name) which represents the idea of always having to do things 
in the newest way: The Progress Addict perhaps? 

A similar taboo could be kept (Don't use the phone if you could e-mail, 
don't cut vegetables by hand, but use the food processor, don't take 
penicillin if there's a new synthetic antibiotic available), although I'm 
not sure what the channels would include.

Part of thinks this is stupid, but another part of me looks at Brookstone 
and the Sharper Image catalog and thinks a focus on useless technological 
innovation is a large part of our culture.
