To the cop question it might depend on whether his noble status is people
obeying the law or something like that. In this situation it would be a
Self 8. Otherwise I would think it would be a self 3-5.

I just finished reading a thoroughly odd little travel guide called
"L.A.
Bizarro" by two guys named Maranian and (I think) Lovett. Or maybe Lowell.
Anyway, if you're setting a game in L.A. this is a great book to have on
hand. It's got descriptions of all sorts of lesser-known restaurants,
tacky tourist attractions, wierd underground businesses, and a "Hollywierd
Death Tour". Sadly, the book also keeps alive the myth that Fatty Arbuckle
killed Virginia Rappe, but other than that it's top-notch. If your
campaign is based elsewhere, it's still worth a look, just to see what kind
of wierdness exists in our real world. After all, who knows when your
players might decide that they need to buy a bat preserved in formaldehyde,
visit the grave of Marilyn Monroe, or hire some porn actors?

Okay, first question: Is anyone else getting their messages
doubled-up?

Next question: I know this will come up in my game sooner or later
(knowing my group, within about 3 minutes of the time I start running). If
a good, relatively honest cop violates the law, what level of Self check
should that be? I'm thinking around a 4 or 5, myself. Opinions?
