That was pretty much what I meant. I see old wizard = powerful wizard. And
I can imagine some incredibly old, powerful Archamge of fire who has to
sepnd the rest of his life living in the middle of a roaring bonfire, and
even there he's shivering more often than not.

If you seek mastery over things, you must give them mastery over you. Or
something like that. I had one other idea, but no quick simple name for it.
It's a mage who can dominate the wills of others, who can command entire
armies with the sound of his voice. But in order to do so, he becomes
unable to act without being told. He can't eat, dress himself, or even
scratch an itch without instructions. The only thing that he can do of his
own volition is tell people what to do...and he can't command himself
through them.
