Hmm..ok. How about a Mage weakens his physical connection to the
Element while strengthening his spiritual component. Thus, a fire
mage is a master of controlling fire with his magick - but is also
physically very vulnerable. Similarly, water mages would need to be
dehydrated, and go around eating salt and sand. Earth mages would be
waiflike, and couldn't touch the Earth (Like the guys in the Anubis
Gate). Air mages...um...can't breathe...
