With the transition being the Agricultural Revolution? That'd fit with 
the agricultural ties (the Nile flooding and giving water to the land) 
of Osiris.

I doubt the last emperor of China; something a bit earlier (the
Rennaisance) or something to do with the Industrial Revolution would 
make sense.
