<p><span style="font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Verdana",sans-serif"> There are a few things that need to be addressed in your simulation. Some of these comments may already have been addressed because I don't think that the version of the *.b18 that you sent
me wasn't the one that you are using in your actual simulation. It didn't have the inputs for the heat coming from the radiators and all the zones were set up with idealized HEATING in TRNBuild. I fixed up the *.b18 that you sent me to take care of those issues.
If you haven't already done so, make sure that you go into your *.b18 and turn off HEATING in all of your zones. Otherwise they will stay 20C and your system won't try to turn on.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Verdana",sans-serif">- the timestep needs to be something on the order of 1-5 minutes. TRNSYS can only make one control decision (pump on/off, heater on/off) per timestep. With a 1-hour timestep the length of time
between one opportunity to make a control decision and the next is too long and the system can't be controlled within tolerances. Often you'll get convergence problems.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Verdana",sans-serif">- the fractional flow rates going to the radiators does not add up to 1. If each radiator gets the same flow rate then Type647 inputs 3-11 should all be set to 0.125 (1/8 of the total flow).
The exception is outlet 4, which is not connected to anything. It's "fraction of flow" input should be set to 0.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Verdana",sans-serif">- there are 11 inputs into your Type649. Three of them aren't connected to an output but they are still contributing 200kg/h of liquid at 20C to the overall flow.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Verdana",sans-serif">- the pump power for your distribution pump (Type114) should be about 10W not 10,000W given its flow rate. In general, set pump power based on 300 W/(L/s)</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Verdana",sans-serif">- regarding these past three points; it is helpful to put an online plotter with the temperature and flow rate of liquid leaving every component in a loop so that you can check for mass flow
balance problems and make sure that the temperatures around the loop make sense. The temperature leaving a pump should be only at most a degree higher than the inlet temperature. The temperature leaving the radiators should be 5 or so degrees less than the
inlet temperature. Using an online plotter to check those flow rates and temperatures is how I debugged that part of the loop.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Verdana",sans-serif">- your controller (Type106) should be connected to both the pump (Type114-2) as it is but also to the heat pump heating signal. The heat pump's cooling control signal should be unconnected
and set to 0. This is important because cooling takes precedence over heating in that model and if both the heating and cooling control signals are set to 1 then cooling will be active. Since cooling is unconnected and set to 1, the HP is only ever going to
cool the liquid.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Verdana",sans-serif">- Type114-2's power should be set to 3W based on the flow rate that you have chosen. That flow rate seems a little low to me but it might be correct.</span></p>

that are not relevant to the situation. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Verdana",sans-serif"> Typically the pump power should be on the order of 300 W/Lps. That would mean about 10W rather than the 10,000W that you have set. If you are trying to make sure that the water temperature
going to the radiators is 60C then I would keep the TES hot by means of the heat pump rather than by creating a pump that draws a lot of power. If the tank isn't staying hot then probably the heat pump doesn't have enough heating capacity to keep it warm.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Verdana",sans-serif"> As a side note, you might also want to look at the radiators. Typically those have a low flow rate (maybe 0.02 kg/h) and a high delta T. Your system is feeding them about 13 kg/h, which means
that they may not be transferring the kind of energy that you want them to and that they have a much smaller delta T than intended. </span></p>
