Joshua,
Pumps typically set the flow rate for a loop based on their rated
flow rate and the value of the input control signal. There are some
pump models that will allow you to set the control signal to a value
greater than 1 and therefore to exceed the pump's rated flow rate. I
would recommend that you break your flow loop by removing one of the
connections (the one that returns to the pump would be best). Then
use an online plotter to look at the temperature and flow rate
coming out of each component in the loop. Verify that you do not
have any incorrect connections. Once you are convinced that there
are no connection problems, reconnect the loop but disconnect
whatever is connected to your pump's control signal. Force the
control signal to be a known value either by setting a constant
input value or by setting an equation. I think these tests will
probably lead you to the problem.
Kind regards,

I'm trying to design a closed cycle hot water system for
use with a Heat Exchanger with a Solar Collector, pump and
tank. I want to be able to set the mass flow rate of the
system but it seems that even though I've set the maximum flow
rate in the pump, the actual flow rate is way higher than
that. I'm guessing it is due to the tank. Can anyone help me
out on what to do with the tank? I only want a simple tank
with 1 inlet and 1 outlet and the mass flow rate to be the one
i determine it to be.
