Marshall,
If you are getting an error from TRNBuild when you save it is because TRNBuild is not able to determine the transfer fucntion coefficients that describe the transient behavior of one of the walls in your *.bui. If you open the *.inf file and look at the bottom, you should see the transfer fuction coefficients for various walls. Note the name of the last wall that was created, then, look up at the definition of the walls earlier in te *.bui file. The wall after the last one that was created is the wall that caused TRNBuild a problem.

What I would recommend you do is to look in the ..\Trnsys16_1\Tess Models\Studio Projects\Ground Coupling Library directory for the example project that uses Type701 and begin modifying it instead of starting from scratch with your basement project.

Kind regards,
David

TRNSYS users,

I am trying to model a crawlspace that has a dirt floor underneath a home in type 56. I am now trying to use the Tess Ground Coupling Library type 701a to model my basement.

I have created the one wall type with layers for the four sides and defined them as BOUNDARY walls. I have also created a wall for the floor that has one layer (sand_gravel since it was the closest thing I could find in the American library) which is .01 meters thick and also defined as a BOUNDARY. When I try to save the .bui file in TRNBLD I get an error "error creating wall transfer function coefficients." I need to not have this error so I can look at the .inf file to see the U values that need to be entered into the parameters for type 701. Why am I getting this error for any wall I have defined as BOUNDARY? I have been following the .pdf description file of type!
701 but I can't figure out how to use this type.

Also, what is the different between the first U value listed in the .inf file and the second U-wert value? I know that the units between the two U values differ, and the U-wert value is the total U value given within TRNBLD. When I convert the U-wert value to the same units as the first U value listed, I get different values.

Thanks,

Marshall
