If you have horizontal insulation directly underneath the entire
slab then you would define that insulation in TRNBuild as a layer in the
BOUNDARY wall that defines the slab. If you have insulation that extends
vertically downward around the perimeter of the slab (like a skirt) then
you define its R-value and the depth to which it extends using parameters
17 and 18 of Type703. If you have horizontal insulation that extends
outward from the perimeter of the slab or if you have horizontal
insulation that extends inward from the perimeter but does not extend all
the way to the middle of the slab then the effects of that kind of
insulation is not calculated by Type703. If I am misunderstanding the
type of insulation that you are considering, my apologies. Please feel
free to send me a sketch of what you are trying to analyze and I will try
to answer more clearly.<br>
