[TRNSYS-users] Convert a *.b18 file in a *.b17 file

Toni,

Getting the geometry converted is not too hard. I think all you'd need
to do is open SketchUp/Trnsys3d using the appropriate template (*.b18 or
*.b17) and then import the resulting *.idf file with the appropriate
version of TRNBuild. If you have added a lot of data to the *.b18 in
TRNBuild already then things might be a little more difficult. You can
export the *.b18 back to an *.idf but I think that TRNBuild from v17
would have a very hard time importing that *.idf to make a *.b17 from it.

Depending on how brave you are, you could try the following. Import
the building geometry into TRNBuild v17 and create a *.b17 file. Open
both that file and the *.b18 file using a text compare tool (I use
CompareIt) and start moving things from the *.b18 file over to the
*.b17  file one piece at a time. TRNBuild's syntax is pretty transparent
although there are some definitions (such as the definition of a
VENTILATION) that have changed between v17 and v18. You could open
another, more complete b17 file using a text editor to see what the
syntax looked like in v17.

kind regards,

  David
