[TRNSYS-users] generating wind pressure coefficients

Dear all,
Maybe a workaround by using available wind tunnel database.
The one from TPU is quite ease to use to my opinion. Only few geometries and environment are available but is has the merit of being well documented experimental measurements freely available : https://www.designsafe-ci.org/rw/user-guide/workspace/tpu-wind-databases/

Saying this, any solutions will always be subject to discussion as pressure coefficient are extremely depend of the local environment…
So aside form CFD or (for the best) wind tunnel measurements, I guess only physical likelihood values can be used.
Xavier

I would also love to know. I've been pushing for DesignBuilder to incorporate this into their external CFD Model so I can transfer the boundary conditions easily to e+. I've been waiting 7 years at least. Till now, I've been using the algorithm in e+ AFN modules, but it's not ideal. I have to manually tweak for courtyards, and so on.

Colleagues,

Does anyone have any suggestions for tools to help with generating wind pressure coefficient values for buildings? I used to use CpGenerator and was very happy with its results. Sadly, it is no longer available. CPCALC is a little rough around the edges and I do not have project time or budget to get Cp values by testing. I imagine that the values can be generated by CFD analysis but I have no direct experience in that regard. I am interested to know whether people have found cost effective ways of generating Cp values.

I hope everyone is staying healthy!

David
