[Trace-users] Creating weather files

Thanks Caleb, but don't think this is the right approach. It's my understanding that TMY data is "typical" data taken over 30 years. What I'm looking for is actual weather data from last year specifically.

Fortunately, this is an easy procedure. The website you want is http://doe2.com/index_Wth.html

You can click on the TMY3 link. It will take you to *.bin files. Download the file and rename the extension to TM3 (or whatever extension it is that Trace looks for when importing a weather file).

Once the file extension is renamed, Trace will import the file without any trouble.

One tip – put your weather files in a place where you can easily find them. When you upgrade a computer, it is nice to be able to grab all the files in one shot.

I’m trying to calibrate an energy model in Trane TRACE 700 based on 2009 weather data and utility bills. As this is my first time to do this, I need to know two things:

1) Where can I find hourly weather data from 2009 in Nashville, TN?

2) How do I convert this into a format that TRACE can import (TMY, TMY2, TMY3, TRY, IWEC)?

Thanks for your help,
