[Trace-users] Trace-users Digest, Vol 16, Issue 1

Shariq,

The only baseline is the 90.1 baseline. G1.2 requires compliance with
sections 5,6,7,8,9, and 10 while applicability criteria in 90.1 section
4.2.1.2 and 4.2.1.3 indicates that additions and alterations to existing
buildings must comply with sections 5,6,7,8,9,and 10 or 11. So through
the commutative property of ASHRAE logic, the Appendix G baseline
applies to existing buildings and only to the actual addition or
alteration that is being considered under 90.1.

Regards,

Stephen

Fareed,

What are the statements your looking for clarification on? If your
project is an NC project, you should do one energy model for the
facility. You'll have a baseline case and a proposed design case. Look
up some past posts on this forum and CIRs about existing building
modeling. I want to say 90.1 allows the baseline to be modeled one of
two ways: either as the existing building, or as the 90.1 baseline as
defined per the standard. Not sure on this - but a little research
should clear it up.

Take care,
Shariq
