Attached is this week's NAMSHPD Weekly Update, with:

(1) Details of the process the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services will be using to pay eligible Medicaid providers $15 billion in payments from the CARES Act Provider Relief Fund;

(2) A study that found that first-time handgun owners are at higher risk of firearm-related suicide;

(3) a Crisis Now Crisis Talk discussion with Victor Armstrong, Director of North Carolina's Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities, and Substance Abuse Services, on racism and implicit bias;

(4) links to new and updated U.S. Federal agency and World Health Organization guidance documents and notices on COVID-19 care, safety measures, and provider reimbursement; and

(5) registration for a June 18 SAMHSA Homeless and Housing Resource Network (HHRN) Virtual Symposium on Improving Access to Effective Care for People Experiencing Homelessness, Serious Mental Illness, and Substance Use Disorders, which will feature NASMHPD's own Senior Medical Adviser, Dr. Brian Sims, on the opening plenary panel.

We hope you find this information useful.

Have a good weekend, and let's be careful out there.

Stay Well,
