Attached is this week's NASMHPD Weekly Update.
We continue to update links to Federal agency guidance documents (from CMS, CDC, and SAMSHA) outlining approaches to responding to the COVID-19 pandemic. We also provide in this issue an updated list of links to state sec. 1135 waivers and sec. 1915(c) Appendix K waivers.
This issue also contains information on:
(1) Efforts by CMS to help providers maintain financial sustainability through Medicare accelerated and advance payments;
(2) NASMHPD's own outreach to Congressional leaders to urge the inclusion in the next coronavirus response legislation of grants/and or loans to help mental health providers and facilities replace lost revenues resulting from social isolation and the economic downturn;
(2) next Tuesday's SAMHSA-sponsored webinar on The National Guidelines for Crisis Care Best Practice Toolkit;
(4) the SAMHSA Funding Opportunity Announcement on the emergency state and territorial grants targeted on addressing mental health and substance use disorders during the COVID-19 pandemic, for which applications are due to SAMHSA tomorrow, April 10;
(3) a new Veterans Administration outreach program to help address veteran suicides in the first year after their separation from service;
(4) a new phone application, the PTSD Coach, being made available from the National Center on PTSD;
(5) a number of new webinars; and
(6) from the Crisis Now CrisisTalk blog, a column on the impact Dr. Ursula Whiteside's new NowMattersNow.org website is making, a photo gallery of life in social isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic, and a link to a column on the impact on physical health of loneliness resulting from social isolation.
We hope you find this information of value.
Please, stay safe and well.
