[Simergy-users] IFC import crashes (NOT)

Hello,

I build a brand new IDF via OpenStudio. It was for EP 8.3, so I tried to clear out anything that could interfere, so the only objects left are surfaces and zones. Could you please check why Simergy won’t accept it? It says it’s not a valid 8.0 vs IDF.

Thank you very much,

Roberto

Older version files must be forward converted using the conversion utility (IDFVersionUpdater.exe) that is installed with EnergyPlus v8.0 (normally located at: C:\EnergyPlusV8-0-0\PreProcess\IDFVersionUpdater). Newer version files IDF files (e.g. 8.1, 8.2, 8.3) are generally not compatible, but sometimes they can be backward converted.

>> 1) We mistakenly included sample files from version 7.2 of EnergyPlus in that installer. We will correct this error in the forthcoming installer for v.16.2. In the meantime, you can get v8.0 sample files in the sample files folder installed with EnergyPlus v8.0. Normally this is C:\EnergyPlusV8-0-0\ExampleFiles
>> 2) The files you are attempting to import are not v8.0 IDF files. You can check this by opening the file in a text editor and looking for the first line that begins with “Version,”. For example – in the sample files installed (discussed above) the line reads: “Version, 7.2;” In this case (as described above).
