*Join the IBPSA-USA Education Committee on Nov. 5th"Municipal Scale Energy
and Carbon Reduction Strategy Modeling"*

Municipal scale energy and greenhouse gas reduction strategies offer
tremendous opportunities for increased energy security, improved economic
strength, and reduced carbon emissions. For communities to remain
competitive, it is crucial to have transformational and implementable
energy and climate action plans. Subsequent implementation of these plans
will attract new businesses and residents, while also increasing the
long-term energy resilience. While hundreds of US and Canadian cities (and
even more globally) have the goal to achieve near zero emissions by 2050 or
earlier, few have robust implementation underway to achieve these goals.

This seminar shows the approach and methodologies the specialist GIL Team
has developed and used over the past 15 years for integrated energy master
planning (IEMP) to support more than 20 municipal and campus projects. The
presentation will address how to formulate a simulation workflow for
predicting energy, carbon and financial performance of fully integrated
energy efficiency, demand, and supply strategies in an interactive process.
The presenters will use a typical North American community with a
population of about 200,000 and highlight benchmarking, data acquisition,
generalized demand modeling, energy supply simulation, municipal carbon
analysis, financial analysis and data visualization for effective
communication and community outreach.

*After the seminar, the audience will understand…*

   - how to work with property tax records, transportation studies and
other data available on a municipal or utility level to create generalized
   energy models
   - how to benchmark cities based on global best practice
   - how to conduct a long-term municipal carbon and cost analyses and
   simulations
   - how to effectively visualize and communicate community scale modeling
   results
   - how to prepare for detailed neighborhood and other implementation plans
