Dear All,
Urban scale simulation research sub-committee of IBPSA USA would like to
invite you to attend our 2018 webinar series. This series will introduce
latest research on the urban scale modeling and simulation. We will kick
off our first webinar with *Dr. Tianzhen Hong from LBNL, USA*.
Date: *April 25th, 2018*
Time: *1pm PDT. *
Title: Urban Modeling For Large-Scale Assessment of Building Energy
Efficiency Improvements
*Abstract:*
Buildings in U.S. cities consume up to 70% of the total primary energy. To
achieve cities’ energy and climate goals, it is thus a key strategy to
reducing energy use and GHG emissions in urban buildings through energy
conservation and efficiency improvements. Urban building energy modeling
(UBEM) is a powerful tool for cities and their energy planning consultants
to assess the building stock and guide building retrofits at city-scale.
The seminar presents LBNL's research on data, methods, tools and case
studies of UBEM. Opportunities and challenges of UBEM will be discussed.
*Presenter Bio:*
Dr. Tianzhen Hong is a Staff Scientist and Deputy Head of Building
Technology Department. At LBNL, he leads the EnergyPlus development and
co-leads the urban systems initiative at Energy Technologies Area. He also
leads the urban building energy modeling as part of an exascale computing
project collaborating with ANL, ORNL, NREL and PNNL.
Please register for Research/Urban Scale Simulation Subcommittee: Recent
development in Urban Scale Simulation on Apr 25, 2018 1:00 PM PDT at:
