We are currently looking for a Research Scientist!

Berkeley Lab is Bringing Science Solutions to the World, and YOU can be a
part of it!

In the world of science, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) is
synonymous with "excellence." That's why we hire the best - whether in
research, science or operations. This is a great opportunity to bring your
top-notch skills to bear in support of world-class scientific research that
addresses national and global challenges!

Position Summary:

Berkeley Lab’s Building Technology and Urban Systems (BTUS) Division has an
opening for a Research Scientist. This BTUS has roughly 80 research staff,
including scientists, technicians, students and visitors, all working on
the development and demonstration of new technologies for energy-efficient
residential and commercial buildings. The historic and core technology
areas of interest include, but are not limited to, lighting, windows &
daylighting, envelope materials, sensors and controls, and HVAC. A second
major focus of the group is in developing and deploying software and
simulation tools to understand the performance of these technologies both
individually as well as integrated into whole-building systems. A new
direction for this department is to expand from single buildings to
consider groups of buildings, looking at the performance of campuses,
neighborhood districts, and larger-scale systems at the urban level.

What You Will Do:

   -

Execute Scout analyses and present results in support of Building
Technology Office (BTO) projects including the HIT Catalyst, BTO FOAs,

Work with project teams on prototype specification and development.
   -

   Coordinate phase I “demo day”.
   -

Conduct research on the simulation and analysis of energy performance of
buildings. Participate in on-going research projects related to the
simulation of energy use in buildings
   -

Participate in developing new proposals related to the analysis of
energy use and buildings, including behavioral aspects on energy
   performance.
   -

Publish research results in scientific journals.

What Is Required:

   -

Minimum of 2 years of experience in development and/or support of
   technical analysis tools.
   -
